A brief photo essay of grunion greeting, taken at La Jolla Shores on the night of April 4, 2007. Two lone fish, possibly scouts. A group of grunion. The fish in the bottom right section of the shot is a female who has dug herself a hole in which to lay her eggs. They will later hatch on shore in the sand and will be washed out to sea in a few weeks. A cluster of grunion as they came in with a wave. More grunion Grunion are pleasingly iridescent. A spawning female surrounded by admirers. Home Humor Pets Musings Books Genealogy Journal About me Site Map Links Mail Me |
